Can Bowflex Dumbbells Really Make A Difference In Your Workouts?
Bowflex Dumbbells are the innovative dumbbell sets that let you move from one weight to another with the click of a dial. Before this innovation, if you wanted to workout with dumbbells, you had three options.
You could work out different muscle groups with the same weight. Obviously this was not good. While you might be huffing and puffing to curl the weight with your bicep, the same weight would prove too easy when bench pressing. Lifting this way made you feel a bit like Goldilocks. This weight is too heavy. This weight is too light. But never, this weight is just right!
The second option before Bowflex Dumbbells was to change weights between exercises. Depending on the type of dumbbells , you would need to adjust the weights with the aid of a wrench or some other fastening device. When you are constantly having to stop and change weights it really interferes with the intensity of your workouts.
This was the option that I was stuck with for years. Not only does switching weights slow your workout but it also causes you problems in other areas. For one thing, the end pieces wear out after years of use. There is nothing more distracting that seeing the weights on one end of a dumbbell beginning to loosen while you are straining to lift it over your head!
Another drawback is that you tend to not change weights as often as you should. Sometimes when it would be better to lower that weight for the final set and use proper form, you can tend to keep the higher weight on and let your technique deteriorate.
The third option is to buy an extensive dumbbell set like you see at the gyms. But there are problems with this option. The big problem is finding the space to store all of those weights! If you are like me your home workout space is limited. A rack filled with more than a dozen sets of dumbbells is just not an option.
